The SixBack

This device gives a sense of a game controller and feels nice and natural to type on but still fits your pocket. The idea is that the GKOS keyboard on the back panel is hinged at the top. When used, the keypad is turned (70 degrees) and locked to its position for typing. When turned back against the back panel, the keypad becomes inoperative and takes minimal space.

The keys are piano-like long flat plastic keys (rectangular red frames in the figure above) resting on rubber contact pads (blue circles in the figure) like those under most calculator keys. There are two mouse buttons and a pointer control on the front panel. The device can be an independent multimedia terminal with a screen or a remote control for e.g. a PC. Here is an example of its dimensions:

The figures above are in millimeters and degrees.

Using the SixBack on a desk:

The SixBack implementation of the GKOS keyboard and pointer control suits well for desktop use. The display will point towards the eyes of the user and the typing position is natural and relaxed. If the display is not used (as in the case of a PC remote control) the device can also be in a vertical position and the keyboard (while active) folded towards the back panel.

Here are dimensions that suit even better for operating the device in your hands, either holding it like a game control or like a binocular:
